Red Floral Hijab Makeup

Hola Amigos!

So I've been busy setting up a small business selling general muslim apparel (such as hijabs, dresses, abayas etc).

I've recently created a facebook page for it, but there is still a lot of work to be done.
I would love for anyone to support me and like my page (even though it's new and has basically nothing on it right now :P).

https://www.facebook.com/HijabApparel

I decided it would be fun to incorporate hijab patterns and my love for makeup.

Hope you guys enjoy these photos.

love, Maria

YVES ROCHER- A Halal Brand

Yves Rocher is a French makeup brand that focuses on botanical beauty. This brand is great for Muslim consumers as all their products are plant based and thus Halal.

I think the greatest aspect of shopping from this brand is the lack of stress you'll experience. You don't have to stress about all the various scientific ingredient names, and whether they are animal or plant based. If any of you have seen PETA list of animal ingredients, you may agree that keeping all these ingredients to memory is never going to happen and the easiest, most stress free and doubt-free way to buy halal makeup is to buy it from a plant based company. The only ingredient you may have to be concerned about is alcohol; other than that your shopping will be a very easy and fun experience.

The other positive aspect of this company is that they have testers in the store. Not only that, but they
allow you to take their products home, try them on, and if you're still not truly satisfied you can always return the used product! In addition to the moderate price range, you have an assurance that if you're not satisfied with your product, that you can always return it. That is a definite advantage that drugstore makeup (which has a cheap to moderate price range) does not have!

On the other hand, I feel their products are either hit or miss. I love their lip pencils and long wear lipstick range. However, when I tried their eyeliner it smudged off even after it dried.
Another disadvantage to this company is that their stores are not widely accessible to everyone, and thus many have to resort to online shopping and miss out on the convenience of testing out a product in-store.

I think that when it comes to skin-care products and lip products this company is awesome because those are the hardest products to find that are Halal. Often times a lipstick color that you've fallen in love with will have carmine, and a skin care product you love will definitely have glycerin. But as for other products such as eyeliners, and eye shadows. I think you're better off finding halal options from more familiar brands like MAC that are of higher quality.

Silver Dust Eye Look

So lately there has been little to no motivation in doing
extravagant makeup since I'm now nearing 8 months and this baby just loves to kick at my bladder.

I swear I go to the washroom at least five times in a single hour! So obviously, no ability to keep my wudu till the next prayer. But Alas!... makeup is my love (even if it means washing it off after a short while) and today I got inspired by a beautiful abaya and lots of free time :P

I bought a grey abaya that I will be selling soon. The abaya has beautiful grey embroidery up the sleeves and down the sides. There are also small black stones on the abaya that glitter under light. The abaya itself is an umbrella/princess cut which allows gives it a very graceful fall. All of this info combined made me want to create the following eye look....

Here are pictures of the work on the abaya. (I'll have more pictures of the abaya on my next post as I am intending to sell it In shaa Allah).

EYES:
1. Apply a white eye shadow base on the brow bone and all over the lid. I used NYX pencil in milk.
2. Apply a light gold eye shadow all over the lid. I used Midnight Cowgirl from Urban Decay (UD) palette
3. I then added the color Crystal from the UD palette in my crease and blended upwards.
4. To add further depth I went in with the color Hijack from the same palette. I used a pencil brush to keep the color concentrated, but blended afterwards to keep the edges soft.
5. I took a matte brown eye shadow from the Coastal Scents palette and used an angled brush to carefully place the brown shadow on my outer v and outer crease.
6. I kept blending and adding the brown shadow until I was happy with it's intensity.
7. I applied Midnight cowgirl on my brow bone, and also reapplied it to the center of my lid.
8. I also applied the brown shadow and the color hijack on my lower, outer lash line. I lined Midnight cowgirl on the inner lower lash line.
9. I then finished off with Mary Kay Ultimate mascara in black and Mac black track liner.

CHEEKS
1. I used a peachy/coral toned blush for my cheeks. (I have a pic of the blush here)
2. I also used a white highlight color on my cheeks. The highlighter I used specifically is NARS albatross.

FACE
1. Mac face/body moisturizer
2. Mary Kay luminous wear foundation in Beige 6
3. Mac Studio Fix powder in C4
4. NARS concealor in ginger.

LIPS
1. Yves Rocher Lip Liner in Nude Beige
2. Mac Sweet Ever After Prolongwear lipcreme
3. Clear gloss with gold flecks (optional)

White silver and purple

Here is a makeup look I did a couple months back but just didn't have the time to post it.
It's a good look for those who would like some noticeable eye makeup without looking too dramatic or old. You can pair this eye-look with a light pink gloss to make it look even more youthful.

EYE:
EYES
1. Prime lids.
2. Apply nyx jumbo pencil in milk all over the lid.
3. Generously apply Mary Kay Eye Shadow in Crystalline all over the lids and on the brow bone as a highlight
4. Apply a light pink to the outer crease and blend up.
5. Apply a dark purple color to the inner crease with a pencil brush, and then blend up.
6. Go back and apply Crystalline Eye Shadow on the inner and middle lid, and softly blend it towards the outer lid and crease too soften the color.
7. Apply a think coat of liquid liner in black.
8. Add black liner to the upper and lower waterline.
9. Curl lashes and add mascara

CHEEKS
1. Use any berry-pink toned blush. Blend from the apple of the cheeks and out.
2. Add a cream colored, shimmery highlight to your cheeks. (You could use the Mary Kay Crystalline eye shadow as a highlight  as well)

LIPS
1. For dramatic look go for a deep berry color, such as romance from LA GIRL
2. For a light youthful look go for a sheer berry pink lip gloss. I used Gosh lip pencil in Wild Cherry, accompanied with Revlon Pink Pout lipstick to lighten the shade, and a gloss over top.

(*** OLD Formula of Revlon Matte Lipsticks do NOT have Carmine, but New formula has carmine listed as a "maybe" ingredient***)
